Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, Chikmagalur

Bhadra wildlife sanctuary is situated 38 kilometers from Chikmagalur town in Karnataka. It is home to a large number of tiger populations and was named India’s 25th Project Tiger in 1998. It looks simply spectacular because of the lofty hill range and lush greenery that surrounds it on all sides. Dry deciduous and moist forests make up the majority of the lush green vegetation.

The enchanting Bhadra River runs through the sanctuary, hence it was named Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a sanctuary for wildlife lovers, spanning 490 square kilometers and home to a diverse variety of flora and fauna. Some endangered species, such as the Malabar giant squirrel and orangutan, can be seen here.

Lakkavali and Muthodi are the two main reserves in this state. Kallahathigiri, at an elevation of 1875 meters, is the sanctuary’s highest peak. Reptiles such as the king cobra and Indian rock python call the sanctuary home.

Inside the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, the Forest Department organizes a Jeep Safari. Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is home to over 30 tigers and 20 leopards. When the water from Bhadra Dam is released through its gates, it provides spectacular views. Boating on Bhadra Reservoir, Sunset Viewpoint, and Mullayanagiri Peak can be enjoyed. There’s even a chance of seeing a number of birds, reptiles, and wild animals.

Exotic butterflies such as the blue pansy butterfly, yamfly, baronet, crimson rose, southern birdwing, tailed jay, great orange tip, and bamboo tree brown can be found at the sanctuary.

The authorities have built a 3.5-kilometer nature trail to further connect tourists with the ecosphere and the beauty of nature. You should stroll along these trails and remain in awe of nature’s beauty.
