Baba Budan giri, is all you want for trekking

Bababudangiri is an incredible trekking spot in the Chikmagalur mountains. It is situated 250 kilometers from Bangalore and perfect for a weekend getaway. The peaks of Budangiri (1895 m) and Mullayanagiri (1930 m) are visible in the distance. As you begin the hiking trail from Sarpadhari you will see the blue valley. The Chandra Drona Range gets its name from the fact that the two mountains together resemble a crescent moon.

On the Budangiri climb, trekkers can expect a lot of excitement. Trails wind through dense shola forests, rugged stretches with moraines. The place also has miles of peaceful green grasslands on the rolling hills. Visitors come on this trek to take in the breathtaking views of the Nilgiri Hills‘ enclosing slopes. Similarly, You can even try your luck spotting wildlife as you pass through the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. The Place can put your endurance to the test as you negotiate a few steep inclines.

The flowers of Kurinji or Neelakurinji blooms after every 12 years. It envelops the entire region in shades of blue and giving the Nilgiri hills their name. For Hindus and Muslims, the Budangiri mountain is also a significant pilgrimage site because of the legacy of Sufi saint Baba Budan and Hindu deity Dattatreya.

Both Hindus and Muslims revere the Baba Budangiri shrine. After trekking to the flat top of the hill, you can also go and find Baba Budan’s grave, a Sufi saint.

The trailhead at Sarpadhari and the one at Attigundi are both viable starting points for the Baba Budangiri trek. Trekkers can first meet the Mullayanagiri mountain and then proceed to Baba Budangiri via either of the routes.

From September to early March is the best time to visit Baba Budhangiri. There is also road access to Budangiri top.
