Swiggy and Dunzo order to be delivered by a drone in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is the Silicon Valley of India and the tech capital which is so true in every sense. So it was always awaited that when a dream of drone deliveries will become a reality, it has to be in our city. Here’s a good news to Bengalureans as the Centre has given permission to 20 companies like Swiggy and Dunzo to conduct BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) experimental flights in the city and we are so thrilled! This comes as a conditional exception to the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rules, 2021, to conduct BVLOS experimental flights, but howdy ho! We are not complaining.

BVLOS is a function in which the remote pilot or the observer does not use visual reference to the unmanned aircraft while conducting the flight. The Ministry said, “BVLOS trials will help create a framework for future drone deliveries and other major applications using drones.” The central government had formed a BVLOS Experiment Assessment and Monitoring (BEAM) Committee to invite Expression of Interest (EOI) to undertake BVLOS experimental flights of drones in May 2019. And now, they have evaluated and selected 20 companies for the experiment for a year.

Ltd, ClearSky Flight Consortium, Dhaksha Unmanned Systems Pvt Ltd, Dunzo Air Consortium, Marut Dronetech Pvt. Ltd, Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt. Ltd, Saubika Consortium, Skylark Drones & Swiggy, ShopX Omnipresent Consortium, Spicejet Ltd, Terradrone Consortium B, The Consortium, Throttle Aerospace Systems Pvt. Ltd, Value Thought IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd and Virginia Tech India are the 20 selected companies for the experimental flights.
