Startups in Bengaluru rise up to fight against Covid-19

Bengaluru: Since the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country with much severity, people have been running for oxygen, hospital beds and other drugs. Many individuals and groups are extending a helping hand to solve the problems of people. Many Bengaluru based startups have been in the lead to aid patients and hospitals.

One such app is Dockare which provides the patient with a tool to monitor their complete illness journey. The patients can add symptoms to their monitoring panel and rate them on a scale of 0 to 10. These can be done on a real-time basis and multiple times a day. Graphs are generated through these inputs which show the gradual change in the illness. The symptoms and vitals help doctors to make proper decisions and give true-data personalised care to their patients. More than 2,000 patients have taken video consultations and home isolation packages and have recovered from the safety of their home with the help of this app.

It was created by a doctor and an engineer. Dr Sai Shankar, one of the co-founders, is a paediatric intensivist and ECMO specialist who has worked in some of the best children’s hospitals like Oxford University, UK, and Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Cofounder, Shweta Shastri who is a computer science engineer had worked in the IT industry. She has developed and grown this concept, adding valuable AI and ML to the interaction between doctor and patient.

Dr Sai Shankar said, “The key is to provide the right treatment at the right time. We need to educate patients to monitor themselves and connect to a doctor only when they need one.”

Corvid systems is another such startup. It is a telemetry technology company developed at the Women Startup Program of NSRCEL. They have created a remote monitoring solution to keep in check the level of liquified gases stored in cryogenic tanks in real-time and aid logistic departments to make the right decisions and refill tanks efficiently and on time.

Shikha Bhargava, co-founder and director of Corvid systems said, “Our solution is assisting India’s largest Liquid Medical Oxygen supplier and other suppliers to remotely monitor oxygen tanks in hospitals across India. Corvid Devices, installed in the hospitals help to gather the level and pressure of oxygen tanks in real-time. Corvid

GLM (Gas Level Monitoring System)  uses this real-time data to trigger alerts and notifications, generate daily oxygen consumption reports etc which helps suppliers to distribute the oxygen stock to multiple hospitals efficiently and maintain the oxygen tanks at sufficient levels round the clock. Our solution is also used in monitoring other industrial gases such as Liquid Nitrogen, Liquid Argon, Liquid Carbon dioxide, Liquid Nitrous Oxide in various manufacturing industries, food and beverage industries etc across India
