Kempegowda International Airport – The first airport in South India to have two independent parallel runways

The Kempegowda International Airport is also known as BLR Airport. It is widely regarded as one of the best in the world. The airport always thrives to find creative ways to make the airport experience smooth, delightful, and unforgettable.

The Kempegowda International Airport, which is located in Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru, is owned by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). It is also India’s third busiest airport, with 33.65 million passengers passing through each year.

Despite growing passenger volumes and continuing infrastructure growth, the airport was able to provide a heart-winning experience to its passengers. By using technology to improve the airport experience, BLR Airport is at the forefront of transforming air travel.

An exclusive gate for hand-baggage-only passengers was opened to minimize wait times and increase operational performance at security checkpoints. A diaper-changing station and a baby stroller service were added to the men’s bathroom. For male passengers traveling with small children. A crew-only terminal is also dedicated to airline personnel was implemented to ensure that passengers’ check-in was not impacted by constant crew movement at checkpoints.

Kempegowda Airport is no longer just a transport hub. It is increasingly transforming itself into a destination with the launch of The Quad, an ambitious plaza with F&B, shopping, and live music.

The airport’s traffic is growing, and more runways are likely to be added in the near future. Established routes have resumed operation, and new routes have been launched in recent months. The Indian airport authority recently also published an aeronautical publication supplement. It states that the north runway will be operational starting from March 25.

Last year, the north runway was scheduled to be closed from March 26 to November 4. It was, however, postponed due to the lockout. The aim was to commission a Cat-III AGL device for the runway before beginning the reconstruction work on the north runway.

With both runways operational, KIA will be the first airport in south India to operate independently parallel runways, allowing planes to land and take off at the same time.
