Should you wear a mask even after getting vaccinated?

Covid-19 virus has been taking the majority of the population in its clutches. While the young and the adults are struggling to keep the virus at bay, vaccines have become the urgent need of the hour.

In the country, two vaccines, namely, Covaxin and Covishield are given in two doses. While it is advised to take the second dose of Covishield between six and eight weeks after the first dose, Covaxin is administered after 28 days. It is only after getting the two doses that the individual will be fully vaccinated.

The vaccine might take at least two weeks to boost the immune system and build a barricade against the virus. According to the experts, vaccinated people can get infected with mild or no symptoms and further spread the infection to those who have not been vaccinated yet. Thus, it is necessary to wear a mask to prevent the persistent circulation of infection. The concept of double masking is very effective against the coronavirus. The double mask will increase the prevention percentage up to 80-90% states the studies conducted by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

It is also strictly advised to follow other Covid-19 protocols like washing hands with soap or using hand sanitisers, maintaining six feet of distance in crowded areas and following the practice of steam inhalation which helps in destroying the virus in the nasal passage.

Moreover, it is better to avoid crowded places during this situation.

Masking up yourself should be the priority in this pandemic when the world is witnessing millions of people getting succumbed to the coronavirus. Stay at home and be safe and let’s fight this pandemic together.
