Covid 19 Updates

Why people are not afraid of the COVID-19 second wave?

Bengaluru: The second wave of Covid-19 is here just like a good sequel of any Hollywood film! Even though it seems to be much more fearsome than its predecessor, the public seems to be much fearless. This time, the states are witnessing a larger number of cases as the infection is spreading at a higher rate. Despite this, it seems like we have become used to this situation and have convinced ourselves that the worst is over.

For instance, the advertisements nowadays, from air conditioning to detergents are focussing more on their ability to kill the germs that cause deadly diseases. Also, we are given an entire PPE kit if we are travelling in flight and have got a middle seat. We do look like a bomb squad specialist with those kits!

When the country first saw the rising cases last year, the political parties had requested everyone to stay at their homes. But the scenario is completely different now. We get to see many political parties conducting rallies as part of their campaigns and a large number of people taking part in it.

This lack of fear of the virus is a matter of grave concern. On studying about this, we may gather that it could be because we have already witnessed many people who have been tested positive but have resumed their work without making much fuss about it.

Union Minister, Amit Shah was tested positive but he returned to his duties. The same is the case with our Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu who was tested positive last year. Many film actors such as Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Akshay Kumar, in spite of having a healthy and flawless lifestyle, were also tested positive. Recently, cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar has been tested positive as well.

But the Indian people still gathered in the stadiums to witness the tournament featuring senior cricketers. Sachin Tendulkar and his teammates S Badrinath and Yusuf Pathan were also tested positive but surprisingly, the news of their Covid result did not even feature on the front page of the newspaper. It was published with the regular news of celebrities partying in Maldives.

The above-mentioned people are celebrities and they have access to the best hospitals and healthcare. But, this is not true for the general public and they seem not to understand this fact. This becomes the one big flaw!

So, to prevent the spread of this virus, let us all find happiness in little things and stay at homes. Let us once again spend some quality time with our families and become superheroes once again!
