Covid 19 Updates

The latest Covid-19 guidelines do not have any room for relaxation; Health Minister K Sudhakar

Despite pressure from various sectors, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Saturday that it was unavoidable to take such strict steps so that things don’t spiral out of control, implying that the new set of guidelines released by the state government would not be relaxing.

After reviewing the situation, he said, the guidelines were released on the guidance of a technical advisory committee made up of experts, and if conditions are under track by April 20, activities will be permitted to restart.

“By limiting operations, the government is dissatisfied. For the past month, I’ve been requesting via the media that a second wave is approaching our shores and that if we don’t understand and take precautionary steps, the government will be left with no other choice but to take drastic measures “K Sudhakar said.

Additionally, He told reporters that Karnataka was the first state to resume normal business operations, but that the state is now registering about 5,000 cases a day, with 3,500 of them coming from Bengaluru alone.

With the increase in cases of Covid-19, the government issued a new set of guidelines on Friday that mandated the closure of gyms and swimming pools, as well as a 50% limit on seating capacity in theatres in some districts.

Apartment complexes have also been ordered to close common areas such as party halls and clubhouses. The government’s new limits, enforced by the guidelines, will be in place until April 20.

Mr. Sudhakar clarified that the guidelines were released after the government received several reports from the technical advisory committee and after consulting senior officials and ministers.
