Covid 19 Updates

No International Commercial Flight Till April 30

The government declared on Tuesday that international commercial passenger flights would be suspended until April 30, 2021. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, international commercial passenger flights were halted on March 23, 2020. Since then, international flights have been halted.

However, the Vande Bharat Mission and scheduled flights under the travel bubbles India has built with 27 countries such as the United States, Germany, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Iraq, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Maldives, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan will continue, and people who meet the government’s eligibility requirements will be able to fly to and from India on them.

On March 23, 2020, all scheduled international flights were canceled. Owing to the magnitude of the pandemic, there is no indication that it will resume anytime soon.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released an order extending the suspension of scheduled international commercial passenger services to and from India until April 30, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.

India has operated Vande Bharat Mission flights to a variety of locations, forming air bubbles with 27 countries so far. For permitted categories of passengers, international air travel is available through VBM and air bubble arrangements. International flights with only cargo are permitted. Flights are approved by the DGCA on a case-by-case basis.

The ban on regular international flights, which has been in effect since March 23, 2020, has been extended until April 30, 2021. This means that, at least until April 30th, 2021, normal international flights will be prohibited. Since coronavirus cases had decreased in recent months, speculation was rampant that regular international flights would resume in April. However, as part of the second wave, new cases have surfaced, forcing the government to extend the ban until April 30th, 2021.
