Bengaluru: On Tuesday, Karnataka witnessed 44,631 fresh Covid-19 cases and 292 deaths which has taken the caseload and fatalities to 16,90,934 and 16,538 respectively.
The health department states that there are 4,64,363 active cases in the state whereas, 12,10,013 people have been discharged after recovery. Out of these, 24,714 people were discharged on Tuesday.
Bengaluru urban district, being a major hotspot, now has 3,01,712 active cases. On Tuesday, the city reported 20,870 infections and 132 deaths. Bengaluru has an aggregate of 8,40,274 cases and 6,845 deaths.
As per the health bulletin, Mysuru reported 2,293 cases, Hassan 2,278, Tumakuru 1,636, Mandya 1,506. Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad, Kodagu, Kolar, Koppal, Raichur, Shivamogga, Udupi and Uttara Kannada witnessed more than 500 cases.
Apart from Bengaluru, deaths were reported in 26 districts including 27 in Ballari, 15 in Shivamogga, 14 in Tumakuru, 10 in Mysuru, eight each in Bagalkote, Chamarajanagar and Uttara Kannada and six each in Mandya and Haveri.
1,53,707 tests were done on Tuesday which is inclusive of 1,40,609 using the RT PCR and other methods. The total tests done till now are 2.62 crore. As of Tuesday, a total of 99.36 lakh vaccinations of first and second doses were done.
