Bengaluru: Karnataka surpassed the 25,000 mark as the state witnessed 25,979 new Covid-19 cases and 626 deaths.
On Sunday, the health department told that the number of recoveries continued to outnumber the cases as 35,573 patients got discharged after recovery. The total number of infections stood at 24.24 lakh.
Out of the 25,979 cases reported on Sunday, Bengaluru urban alone accounted for 7,494. The city also saw 12,407 discharges and 362 deaths.
Till now, an aggregate of 24,24,904 cases has been confirmed in the state which is inclusive of 25,282 deaths 19,26,615 discharges. The total number of active cases was 4,72,986. The positivity rate of the day stood at 20.76 percent, whereas, the case fatality rate was 2.40 per cent.
Out of the 626 deaths reported on Sunday, 362 were from Bengaluru urban, 30 from Bengaluru rural, 22 from Mysuru, 18 from Ballari, 17 from Uttara Kannada, 15 from Kalaburagi, followed by others. Bengaluru urban reported 7,494 new cases, Mysuru 2,222, Hassan 1,618, Tumakuru 1,269, Ballari 1,190, Belagavi 1,066, followed by others.
Bengaluru urban has the highest number of cases with 11,19,552, followed by Mysuru 1,26,735 and Tumakuru 93,766.
