Covid 19 Updates

Karnataka may undergo the second phase of Lockdown

A year ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a “people’s curfew,” signaling the start of a chaotic national shutdown in an effort to control the virus. After the United States and Brazil, India currently has the highest number of cases.

Maharashtra is India’s most developed state and the site of the country’s financial hub. After a full-scale reopening of its economy late last month. Mumbai has accounted for more than 60% of the country’s total cases. In the last 24 hours, the state has reported 99 COVID-19 deaths, a case fatality rate of 2.15 percent, which is higher than the national average of 1.5 percent.

Today, India’s daily Covid-19 cases exceeded 40,000 for the first time in nearly four months. The federal government has begun actively engaging with all state and local governments. Particularly those that are experiencing an increase in regular new cases and have a large caseload of active cases. The federal government has also requested the states to ensure that citizens follow COVID-19 prevention practices such as wearing face masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing.

As per the report, If the number of coronavirus cases in Karnataka continues to rise, then there has been speculation that the state government may reimpose a lockdown to stop the spread. Karnataka’s Health Minister K. Sudhakar, on the other hand, has ruled out such a possibility.

Lockdown was on the table due to the recent increase in Covid-19 incidents. Health Minister K Sudhakar clarified on Monday that it was not being considered at this time. “At this time, neither semi-lockdown nor lockdown is being contemplated”. In Bengaluru, he said, “We need to learn from our mistakes in the past.”
