Bengaluru: On Wednesday, Karnataka witnessed 26,811 new Covid cases and 530 related fatalities. This has taken the total number of infections to 24,99,784 and the death toll to 26,929.
The discharges of the day outnumbered the positive cases with 40,741 discharges. Out of the fresh cases reported on Wednesday, Bengaluru Urban reported 6,433. The city witnessed 285 deaths and 18,342 discharges.
As of May 26, an aggregate of 24,99,784 Covid-19 cases has been confirmed in the state. This is inclusive of 26,929 deaths and 20,62,910 discharges.
The total number of active cases stood at 4,09,924. The positivity rate for the day was 19.48 percent, whereas, the case fatality fate was 1.97 percent.
Bengaluru Rural logged 35 deaths, Ballari 22, Belagavi, Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru 14, Chamarajanagara 13, followed by others. Out of the new cases, Mysuru reported 2,792, Hassan 1,471, Tumakuru 1,399, Davangere 1,309, Belagavi 1,205, followed by others.
Bengaluru Urban headed the list of positive cases with a total of 11,37,929, Mysuru with 1,34,448, and Tumakuru with 98,139.
Bengaluru Urban also had the maximum number of discharges with 9,18,423, followed by Mysuru with 1,16,299 and Tumakuru with 77,525. Till now, a total of 2,90,61,302 samples have been tested out of which 1,37,584 were tested on Wednesday alone.
