The Health Department in Karnataka announced 4,225 new cases of COVID-19 and 26 related deaths on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 9,97,004 and the death toll to 12,567.
A department bulletin stated that 1,492 patients were discharged after rehabilitation on the same day, bringing the total number of discharges to 9,56,170. The state’s positive attitude rate was 3.89 percent.
On Wednesday, there were 2,928 new cases in Bengaluru Urban alone, with 879 people recovering from the disease.
According to Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Maharashtra had an average of 23% case positivity rates last week, followed by Punjab 8.82 percent, Chattisgarh 8.24 percent, Madhya Pradesh 7.82 percent, Tamil Nadu 2.5 percent, Karnataka 2.45 percent, Gujarat 2.22 percent, and Delhi 2.04 percent.
Apart from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, and Chhattisgarh are the four other states that account for the majority of active cases.
“Five states, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, and Chhattisgarh, account for 79.30 percent of the country’s total active cases. With more than 61 percent of the country’s active caseload, Maharashtra takes the lead.” the Union Ministry of Health said.
New restrictions have been introduced in Karnataka, the government has announced that there will be no lockdown in the state, but that those who do not follow protocols will face severe consequences.
Since the number of Covid-19 cases in the state has been increasing, the government also declared that parties and celebrations were prohibited from March 29.
