Covid 19 Updates

Covid-19 cannot be ruled out if the measures are not followed strictly

Bengaluru: Keeping in mind the expert prediction that the city may witness 6,500 Corona cases each day by the mid of this month, Karnataka health minister K Sudhakar has urged the public to cooperate and follow the control measures to keep the infection under control.

Sudhakar said, “Technical advisory committee in their report has said till May-end, we have to take things seriously and together fight it. Without the cooperation from the public, the government alone cannot do anything.”

He added that saving the lives of people was necessary and the government is committed to that. Therefore, the disease can only be controlled by following stricter measures. He told, “An expert from the technical advisory committee has said that there are chances of Bengaluru alone reporting nearly 6,500 cases per day by April 20. We have already reached 3,500, we have to see.”

Dr Giridhar R Babu has, professor and head life course epidemiology, Public Health Foundation of India, has said that as the cases would increase every day,  the hospitals would soon run out of capacity. He has tweeted, “Stay home people, wear masks if going out and get a vaccine when eligible.”

As affirmed by the health minister, 10 lakh vaccines have been sent by the Centre to Bengaluru by flight and around 5 lakh have been sent to Belagavi by road.

He said, “Till yesterday, 46,02,000 vaccinations have been done, I had said that only about 12 lakh vaccines are remaining, but after speaking to the union health minister and principal secretary, they responded to it immediately and have sent over 15 lakh vaccines.”

It has been noted that due to the weekend holidays, there is a slight decrease in the number of cases. On Sunday, Bengaluru reported about 2,700 cases and 4,553 across the state.

K Sudhakar started that wearing the masks is a must and yesterday, the prime minister, on reviewing the situations in eight states, has given the responsibility to take necessary steps.

There will be an enforcement of stricter measures if there is a spike in the cases. He says, “I request everyone for cooperation to see to that such a situation does not arise in Karnataka, only by strictly adhering to precautionary measures will we be able to control the spread.”
