After 26 students tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, classes at Basavanahalli High School and College in Davanagere were suspended.
The Karnataka government released a new set of Covid-19 guidelines on Friday to tackle the virus’ spread in the state, which stated that classes from 6 to 9 p.m. will be canceled, gyms and swimming pools will be closed, rallies and dharnas will be banned, and cinema hall seating capacity will be restricted to 50 percent.
In the districts of Bengaluru Urban and Rural, including BBMP, Mysuru, Kalburgi, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Bidar, and Dharwad, alternate seating subject to a limit of 50% seating capacity will be required in cinema halls.
The number of customers in pubs, bars, clubs, and restaurants in Bengaluru’s urban and rural districts, including BBMP, Mysuru, Kalburgi, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Bidar, and Hubali-Dharwad, shall not exceed 50% of the capacity.
In the last 24 hours, Karnataka has registered 3,354 new Covid-19 cases, increasing the total number of active cases to 34238. During this time, 1,631 people have been released. Six people have died as a result of the virus in the last 24 hours, according to the ministry, which has 9,59,400 cumulative discharge cases.
