Bengaluru: On Tuesday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that an all-party meeting would be held on April 18 to prevent the second wave of Covid-19.
Yediyurappa told, “I have convened an all-party meeting on April 18 to draw more measures to contain the Covid spread in the state.”
Former chief ministers Siddaramaiah, and HD Kumaraswamy, Congress state unit president DK Shivakumar and leaders of other political parties will also be invited to the meeting for giving suggestions to tackle the pandemic.
When asked about the possibility of lockdown, the chief minister said that the states’ Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of health experts have not recommended it till now.
Yediyurappa said, “A Corona curfew is in force between 10 pm and 5 am from April 10-20 in eight cities across the state, including Bengaluru, to prevent people from staying out or going out in the night.”
He also said that there is no other way to prevent the infection except following the protocols such as washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
He noted, “With folded hands, I appeal to the people to cooperate with the state government by strictly following the guidelines to remain safe and defeat Covid.”
The Chief Minister, after returning to his home from Bidar, held a meeting with the concerned officials to review the present Covid situation.
The chief minister’s Office said, “Measures have been taken to ensure sufficient beds, medicines, oxygen and ventilators in all state-run and private hospitals across the state to treat Covid patients.”
Apart from focusing on micro containment zones, the chief minister has also urged the health workers and frontline workers to intensify testing, tracing and treating positive cases.
The statement said, “Civic marshals and the police have been told to fine violators Covid norms and detain those defying the night curfew in eight cities.”
The state health department has been told to ensure that there is a sufficient supply of vaccines in all the district across the state to vaccinate more people who are eligible.
