Karnataka reported over 3,000 new Covid-19 cases and 12 related fatalities after a four-month hiatus, bringing the total number of cases to 9.87 lakh and the death toll to 12,504, according to the state’s health department.
On November 5, 2020, the state reported 3,156 new incidents, surpassing the previous high of over 3,000.
On Sunday, 2,004 of the 3,082 new cases recorded were from Bengaluru city alone. A total of 1,285 patients were discharged from the hospital on the same day.
In total, 9,87,012 Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in the state, with 12,504 deaths and 9,51,452 discharges, according to a bulletin from the Health Department.
There are 22,833 healthy patients in isolation at designated hospitals out of 23,037 active cases, and 204 in Intensive Care Units.
Bengaluru was the city with the most deaths, with seven, followed by Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Tumakuru, and Udupi each with one. Bengaluru had 2,004 new cases, Udupi had 115, Mysuru had 114, Dakshina Kannada had 68, Hassan had 65, Bidar had 63, and Dharwad had 60, among others. With a total of 4,28,173 positive cases, Bengaluru district topped the list, followed by Mysuru 55,447, and Ballari 39,682.
Bengaluru leads the way in terms of discharges with 4,07,709, followed by Mysuru with 53,815 and Ballari with 38,842. So far, over 2,11,085,544 samples have been screened, with 1,06,328 being tested only on Sunday.
