The BBMP is considering holding a vaccination drive in buildings

Following demands from many resident welfare associations (RWAs), the BBMP declared that it would look into allowing vaccination drives at apartment complexes.

“According to current recommendations, the vaccine must be given under medical supervision in a licensed health facility. BBMP commissioner Gaurav Gupta said during a virtual meeting with RWAs on Friday that the beneficiary must be held under observation for 30 minutes after the shot.

“We’ll talk to hospitals to see if they’re willing to set up micro-centers under their supervision in apartment complexes in their area,” he added. Apartment associations, on the other hand, may reserve an entire session or two for their tenants. This will greatly assist us in the vaccination rates.”

The meeting was also attended by health commissioner Rajendra Cholan and chief health officer BK Vijendra. In Bengaluru, 25,000 people get the vaccine every day. According to Vijendra, the BBMP intends to double the number. According to BBMP officials, most asymptomatic carriers of the virus are between the ages of 20 and 45. For the benefit of the city, they should avoid congested areas.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,15,372 samples were tested, with a daily test positivity rate of 3.65% across the state. The death count now stands at 12,585, with 18 more people succumbing to the virus. The total number of people infected in the state has now surpassed one million, with 10,01,238 people infected since March 8 of last year.
