Bengaluru: The state government may consider the option to impose a complete lockdown as the Covid-19 cases are still increasing despite the one-week curfew in Karnataka. The official sources said that the complete lockdown will at least be for two weeks after May 12.
The two-week curfew from April 27 has given only partial result as the government permitted many sectors, including manufacturing, construction and garment factories to function with 50% staff and also, the movement of vehicles was virtually unchecked at times. The increase in the cases is continuing also because of the movement of people from Bengaluru to the remote areas due to the curfew.
Experts have suggested chief minister BS Yediyurappa go ahead for a complete lockdown without any relaxation till at least by the end of May so that the cases can decrease the mid-June. Predictions have been done that cases may decline by this weekend. The cabinet met on Tuesday to examine the results of the present curfew and also to take action after May 12.
After the cabinet meeting, Yediyurappa told, “We will take stock of the situation on May 10 and decide on the further course of action based on experts’ suggestions.”
