Bengaluru: On Friday, the Karnataka HC directed the government and BBMP to urgently ensure additional bed facility in Bengaluru city by using the existing Covid Care Centres as the situation has become scary now.
As of Friday, it was told that no ICU beds were available in city hospitals, whereas only 11 ventilator beds and HDU (high dependency unit) beds were empty.
It was pointed out that the city recorded 15,244 cases on Thursday and it might increase today and tomorrow. If it does then there will be no beds available in any of the three categories.
The special division bench has advised the government and BBMP to set up help desks outside Covid hospitals.
The state government has also been asked to bring the correct information about figures of required and availability of oxygen in the state. Also, the state’s response has been sought on the purchase of Remdesivir directly from manufactures so that the state itself can distribute the drug.
