Bengaluru: On Sunday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that people coming to Bengaluru from other states and districts will be screened and swab samples will be collected to prevent the rise of Covid cases. This comes as a result of the lockdown being lifted in some parts of Bengaluru urban, besides others from Monday.
The flow of people from different places are likely to happen as the economic activities in Bengaluru urban are all set to resume. However, the health experts fear that this may result in a possible spread of the infection and consequently, the number of cases.
Yediyurappa said, “I have spoken to officials about this. I have asked them to ensure strict screening at entry points into the city. We will plug loopholes if any.”
But, the CM did not clarify if the screening and testing will be done at district borders or at bus stands and railway stations where people gather in large numbers. Over the past week, many people were gathered in the railway station as the lockdown was going to be lifted.
The stringent measures will continue to be imposed in 11 districts where the cases have not yet decreased including Bengaluru Rural, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya and Mysuru.
