The western extension of Namma Metro’s Purple Line (7.5 km Mysuru Road-Kengeri) is expected to begin trial runs in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the first train test will take place at a very slow pace. The first day is primarily concerned with determining the suitability of side gaps, Ajay Seth, managing director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), confirmed the news.
The section is estimated to serve 75,000 passengers a day when it opens for commercial operations in June. According to reports, the metro rail safety commissioner (CMRS) will inspect the corridor in May. BMRCL will be able to begin commercial operations after receiving approval from CMRS.
It will take 15 minutes to drive from Mysuru Road to Kengeri. Nayandahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Kengeri bus terminal, Kengeri, and Challaghatta will be the seven stations on the elevated line.
Challaghatta station, which is located across NICE Road, is expected to open in March 2022. IL&FS Engineering got the contract for Mysuru Road and Pattanagere parts by BMRCL in April 2015, while Soma Enterprises was given the contract for Pattanagere-Challaghatta depot by BMRCL in March 2016.
According to statistics, 96% of civil work between Mysuru Road and Pattanagere has been completed, while 94% of work between Pattanagere and Challaghatta depot has been completed.
BMRCL, on the other hand, has missed many deadlines for this corridor, including December 2018, March 2019, November 2019, October 2020, and February 2021.
The IL&FS financial crisis in 2018 slowed construction between Mysuru Road and Pattanagere. To complete the project, BMRCL collaborated with IL&FS subcontractors and contractors.
