Karnataka government revises lockdown guidelines, permits all items through e-commerce

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government is permitting e-commerce delivery of all items now. The government had revised the lockdown guidelines on Thursday after reviewing the pandemic situation. The government has issued relaxations in the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions in the state.

The official notification which was issued by N Manjunath Prasad, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department and Member Secretary Disaster Management State Executive Committee said that the delivery of all items through e-commerce firms and home delivery or products will be permitter and the previous order given on May 9 will be withdrawn. Earlier, the government had allowed the companies to deliver only the essential goods.

The notification has also permitted the movement of advocates, their paralegal personnel clerks, and other support staff to their respective offices only during court working days on showing ID cards/ authorization.

When the lockdown was extended in the state, chief minister BS Yediyurappa had urged people to refrain from unnecessary movement.

Initially, the Karnataka government had declared a weekend lockdown on April 27. Later, it was turned into a complete lockdown on May 7. It was further extended from May 21 till June 7.

On Thursday, the number of total Covid cases in Karnataka surpassed the 25 lakh mark as the state logged 24,214 new cases and 476 deaths. The day also witnessed 31,459 discharges. The number of discharges continues to outnumber the fresh cases.
