Bengaluru: On Wednesday, the Karnataka government released standard operating procedures (SOP) for conducting SSLC exams in the third week of July. It is permitting students with Covid symptoms and Covid too to give the exams.
Over 8.7 lakh students will appear for the exam which has now become only a two days affair with the MCQ format. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be from June 21- July 5.
Covid positive students can also write the exams at Covid Care Centres set up for the same. They can write the exams only after seeking the advice of local health officers.
Students who are in home isolation will be taken in ambulances to the Covid Care Centres where State Health department officials will be the invigilators. Students’ OMR sheets will be sanitised before evaluation.
Teachers and other officials at the examination centres must have taken at least the first dose of the Covid vaccine. Also, officials will have to undergo an RT PCR test and they will have to wear face shields.
Students who have symptoms like cold, cough or fever will be seated in separate rooms and will be given N95 masks.
Students belonging to other states who cannot write the SSLC exams can give supplementary exams as freshers. Also, the government jas given the students the option to change the exam centre so that they can choose a place closer to their homes.
