Bengaluru: According to official records, nearly 1,049 Bengaluru police personnel tested Covid positive even after taking both the doses of Covid vaccine during the second wave of the pandemic.
A senior IPS officer said, “The health of the 1,049 personnel is fine. Their recovery speed is good, and many have reported back to duty. This shows that the vaccine helps in preventing severe Covid-19. They are on a safer side compared to those taking jabs.”
15,158 police personnel out of 18,900 have taken both doses of the vaccine. DG and IGP Praveen Sood and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pany were the first to get jabbed in the state. They were included in February. Gradually, other senior officials also took the vaccine and encouraged others to do the same. Initially, many police personnel especially those with diabetes, and blood pressure issues were afraid of the side effects of the vaccine.
Medical camps were set up at local police stations and doctors clarified the doubts on the side effects of the vaccine.
