Bengaluru: A six-year-old boy met with an unforeseen accident after a biker rammed into him while trying to “impress” women. The boy suffered multiple fractures to his leg. The incident happened in Maruti Nagar, near Byadrahalli, on Monday.
The victim’s father reportedly said that the accused was riding his bike recklessly to impress women while returning home from work from a garment factory nearby. The police is yet to identify the accused.
The victim, Shibu, sustained multiple fractures to his right leg, face, hands and he requires surgeries. He is currently admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
The nearby garment factory had closed for the day and some of the female employees were walking in groups in front of Shivu’s house while he was standing with his bicycle close to the gate of his house on Mahadeshwaranagar Main Road in Maruthi.
Later after the incident, one of the women told Shivu’s mother that the man on the two-wheeler had tried to talk to her, but as she ignored him, he sped past her and her friends which resulted in the collision.
An eye witness states, “the speeding bike rammed into Shivu’s cycle, and the rider fell in a different direction while the bike fell on Shivu and dragged home for a few yards before coming to halt.” A young neighbour of Shivu’s found him with his right leg bleeding and knee bone exposed. He and the motorcycle rider took him to the nearby hospital. But by the time Shivu’s parents reached the hospital, the accused managed to slip away unnoticed.
Shivu’s father, Nagaraju, has filed a complaint with the Byadrahalli police who are checking the CCTV footages. The police official stated that “We have taken up the case against the unknown rider booking him under the section of IPC 279 – rash and negligent riding on a public highway and 337 – causing hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life, or the personal safety of others.”
