Shivoham Shiva Temple

This Shiva Temple’s history dates back to 1994 when the construction of the 65-foot-tall idol of Lord Shiva began. On the auspicious MahaShivratri day in Bangalore, Karnataka, Sri Shankaracharya of Shringeri inaugurated the temple on February 27, 1995.

This Temple is not an ordinary one! One morning, Ravi V. Melwani had a vision of building a temple where a giant statue of Lord Shiva will stand for centuries to come, building trust, hope, and faith. He was shocked because when he was hit by this inspiration, he had no income, no land, no plans. All he had was this idea. But Ravi V. Melwani and Vashi J. Melwani, his father, were fully persuaded that the vision was, in fact, God’s message. They’ve been working to make the vision come true. They got a piece of ground, arranged for the funds, as if by magic, with God’s grace, and the Temple was soon a reality. All things are possible with confidence.

A 65-feet-tall Shiva statue is installed in the Shivoham Shiva Temple, situated in the heart of Bangalore. The god, sitting in a yogic pose, is a towering emblem of belief. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple, especially on festive days, to experience God. The glorious Lord sits in a lotus pose and has Mount Kailash in the distance, and the holy Ganges River flowing from His matted locks. When gazing at this 65-foot wonder, surrounded by mountains and with the blue sky above, the feeling of tranquility that one feels is overwhelming.

The PratyakshLinga at the Shivoham Shiva Temple is concealed under the holy waters of Manasa Sarovar Lake. This Linga remains submerged in the water and appears out as soon as the aarti begins. The Linga disappears when the Aarti is over! The Linga symbolizes that the wonders of God are magical and everything happens as per His wish just at the right time. During the morning, evening, and midnight, devotees can catch a glimpse of Pratyaksh Ling aarti.
