One of the refreshing hangout locations in Bangalore, which is a large man-made lake near Sadashivanagar, Vyalikaval, and Malleshwaram, is Sankey Tank.
It was named after Col. Richard Hieram Sankey, the founder of the lake in 1882, to provide a better supply of water in Bangalore. Sankey Tank is an ideal location for some moments of serenity and solitude to celebrate.
The Mayura Sankey Boat Club which sits on the bank of the lake offers a wide range of boat rides such as pedal boats, motorboats, rowboats, etc.
It is located in an area of 37.5 acres on the western side of Bangalore. To witness the lush vegetation in the background while you are boating around this giant lake, it is best visited post-monsoon. The distance from the bus stand at Kempe Gowda is approximately 6 km.
Location: 11th Cross Road, Kodandarampura, Gayathri Nagar, Bengaluru
Entry fee: Adults’ INR 10 and children’s INR 5. Boating can also be selected, which is INR 10 per human.
Timings: 6 AM to 8 PM, except Fridays, on all days of the week.
