Nandi Hills is an ancient hill fortress. It was built by the Ganga Dynasty. At the time of Tipu Sultan, he found it and was enlarged and strengthened. It is located 10 km from Chickballapur town and approximately 60 km from the Bengaluru city. Closest town to the hills is Nandi. Nandi hills are the favorite sunrise spot for the tourists.
Major attractions here include Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple (a Hindu temple in Chikkaballapur district), Tipu’s Summer Palace, Tipu Drop, and Skandagiri.
The Department of Horticulture is planning to construct a one-crore rupee worth food court, 30 lakhs worth music stage and developing an 140 acres of land in the Nandi Hills region with the creation of a large-scale exotic botanical garden.
Even beginners to intermediate level can get engaged in hiking and trekking the Nandi hills. Trails in the area include the staircase-based trekking path which starts near Sultanpet village.
