Mysore Palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace, is the most popular tourist attraction in Mysore. The palace attracts millions of visitors each year. It is located in the heart of the city. The official residence of the Wadiyar family. It is located within the Old Fort and faces the Chamunda Hills.
The palace is a three-story stone building built of fine grey granite. It has deep pink marble stones atop and a 145-foot-tall five-story tower. The palace is 245 feet long and 156 feet wide. The domes’ designs depict Indo-Saracenic architecture as practiced by British architects in late-nineteenth-century British India.
Every year in the autumn, the palace hosts the renowned Mysore Dasara festival. During the festival, the palace is illuminated by nearly 100,000 light bulbs. The palace contains 12 Hindu temples built at different times between the 14th century and 1953. Someshvara Temple and Lakshmiramana are only two of them.
The management has introduced battery-operated vehicles to make it easier for tourists to visit the palace. It is one of the largest Indian palaces and one of India’s most popular tourist destinations after the Taj Mahal.
Mysore Palace is reachable by KSRTC bus, train, or cab from Bangalore.
