Mayo Hall – Picture of Elegance and Home to BMP

Mayo Hall is a brick-and-mortar building in Bangalore, India’s central business district. On Mahatma Gandhi Road, next to the Public Utility Building, stands the colossal hall.

Italian chandeliers, ornate chairs, elegant furnishings, architrave, pediment windows, main stoned arches, balustrade ledges, stunning consoles, Greek cornices, Tuscan columns, and wooden floors adorn this two-story structure. Mayo Hall now houses a number of BMP offices.

It is an example of a historically significant building in Bangalore that needs to be supported. The Hall was built as part of a larger plan to transform the cantonment into an integrated Bangalore Civil and Military station from the beginning. As a result, in the mid-1800s, a sequence of developmental activities began.

Mayo Hall, because of its location on a hill, provided a panoramic view of the Parade Grounds and Ulsoor Lake on one side, and the Shoolay Lake, Race Course, and Brigade Grounds on the other. The place has lost its greenery and breathing space today. Due to the construction of many buildings around it.
