Kotilingeshwara Temple – Kolar, Karnataka

The Kotilingeshwara temple is located in Kammasandra, a small village in the Kolar district. Because one of the largest and tallest Shivalinga in Asia, the temple is highly well-known. Every year, over 2 million devotees visit this temple.

The Koti Lingeshwara Temple, located 18 kilometers from Kolar in Kammasandra village, attracts thousands of devotees. The main attraction is a series of large and small Shivalingas that have been built by devotees and number in the millions. The height of shiv linga is 108 feet, believed to be one of the highest in the world, can be found in another enclosure near the main entrance. A 36-foot-tall Nandi statue stands in front of this massive Shivalinga. Other temples dedicated to Manjunatha, Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara, and Navagrahas are also located here.

You can also establish your own shiv linga which is chargeable. Installing the lingas also requires devotees to perform special poojas. Besides, there is no specific day for establishing linga. Pooja is performed regularly to every mounted linga in the temple.

Lord Venkataramani Swamy Temple, Lord Panduranga Swamy Temple, Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana Temple, Lord Panchamukha Ganapathy Temple, Lord Anjaneya Temple, and Goddess Kannika Parameshwari Temple are the temples there.

A large number of devotees take the opportunity to attend the temple, during Maha Shivaratri. The temple is conveniently accessible from Kolar’s goldfields.

The government has designated this temple as a tourist attraction, allowing hundreds of visitors from all over the world to pay their respects to one of Asia’s largest Linga. Also, Many unmarried women pray for a blessed and happy married life under the shade of two flower trees.

One can visit the temple from January to July.
