On the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border, the Hogenakkal waterfalls are a scenic amalgamation of rocks, water, and mist. In Kannada, the words “Hoge” and “Kallu” mean “smoke” and “rock,” respectively. Hogenakkal literally means “smoke over the rocks,” which is how the river Kaveri reaches Tamil Nadu from Karnataka. Then, look appear when there is a lot of water falling over the rocks.
The Kaveri is one of India’s main rivers. It runs for 500 miles between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. On the border between the two states, the Hogenakkal Falls are created when the river cuts through the rocky terrain. The falls are made up of a series of smaller waterfalls that vary in height from 15 to 65 feet.
Due to the highest water levels during the monsoon season, Hogenakkal Falls is a visual treat. There are many observation decks from which you can take breathtaking views of the rushing water through the cliffs. Following the monsoon season, you can take a coracle trip down the river between two massive rocks with waterfalls on both sides. However, due to safety issues, water sports and coracle rides may be suspended during this period. Freshly caught fish-based dishes are available to visitors to Hogenakkal. On the riverbanks, local men sell oil massages to tourists.
Hogenakkal is a perfect place to visit for a day trip from Bengaluru. To get to Hogenakkal from Bengaluru, there are two main routes. The quickest route is via Electronic City, Attibele, and Denkanikottai, which is about 130 kilometers from Bengaluru. While this route is shorter, it has fewer tolls.
Also, the other famous road, which is a wider national highway, runs through Hosur, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri. This journey is approximately 150 kilometers long.
