HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has founded the HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum. A diverse range of aircraft models, fighter planes, and helicopters is shown in the museum. A reference library, aircraft simulators, a replica air traffic control tower, and an aeromodelling club are also available at the museum.

Spread over four acres of lush green land, in addition to a collection of motorized cross-sections of aero-engine models, the museum exhibits the development of aviation from 1940 to today through photos and maps. In addition to a true-motion simulator for tourists to realistically experience flying fighter jets and commercial aircraft, different types of aircraft models are shown. There is an orchidarium, herbal garden, and a sustainability park beside the museum exhibit, which aims to teach visitors about solar systems, biogas, and hybrid wind turbines.

The museum ensures that tourists get the best possible insight into HAL and India’s aeronautical past – their experiments, successes, and possibilities; and at the same time, they also get to glimpse some of the Indian Air Force’s most important possessions. Such an exhibit is not only an enchanting experience for aviation lovers, but also for the layman.

The entrance fee is Rs 50 for adults and Rs 30 with an ID card for students and children up to 18 years of age. Children up to 3 years of age and Physically disabled adults are free of charge. If you are holding a camera, the fee for the still camera is Rs 50 and Rs75 for the video camera.

The HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum are situated on the Old Airport Route, 17 km from the center of Bengaluru (Majestic) and 40 km from the International Airport of Bengaluru. The nearest metro stop to the HAL Aerospace Museum is Baiyappanahalli metro station. The Old Airport Road can be reached from any part of Bengaluru by metro, bus, car, or taxi.
