Tucked away off the Kanakapura-Kollegal Highway somewhere, Bheemeshwari is a fast five-kilometer drive from Muthathi. You will be checked well before letting you in, particularly for alcohol and hunting gear, as you enter the forest area. An action-packed weekend in Bheemeshwari begins with tents for camping on the bank of the River Cauvery, bonfires at night, and beautiful sunrises for your morning jog or stroll.

Trek and walk uphill to the peaks in the surrounding forest stretches, embark on a heart-throbbing rafting adventure, eat locally made food, mostly simple but delicious meals in your camps. These camps provide their packs with mosquito nets, cots, food, and bathing facilities. Sleep under the open sky at night, amid the cocoon-quiet jungle with the river’s gushing rhythm.

Between September to February, the best time to visit Bheemeshwari is to experience a nice climate and the rivers come alive after the months of the monsoon. For birdwatchers, flocks of fishing eagles, kingfishers and many other rare bird species make it a paradise. Watch out for the monkeys you’ll find all over the area.

There is no entry fee, but tents and other camping things that can be paid are available within Bheemeshwari. That place can be visited for free. Cameras are approved. Pets are not authorized, no electronic payment is possible and only cash payment is allowed as there is a communication issue.
