This splendid museum, dedicated to the memory of the architect of modern Karnataka, Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, houses numerous scientific innovations and gives you a glimpse of the country’s history of technological progress. A major attraction here is a 1:1 scale replica of the Wright Brothers’ Flyer, the first piloted aircraft in the world, and a ‘Flyer Simulator’ which offers visitors a delightful experience. In a recreated setting, one can also experience the action and sound of a life-sized animated Spinosaurus at the Dinosaur Corner.
Together with Flyer Simulator, VITM has a Dinosaur Corner with a mobile app facility & a 1:1 scale replica of the Wright Brothers Flyer Kitty Hawk that offers the visitor an immersive and entertaining experience. VITM’s Science on a Sphere, the only one in Asia, is a broad visualization device that uses multimedia projections to display animated data on the sphere, turning it into an interactive animated globe, coupled with narration, displaying complex, animated images of the planet’s atmosphere, ocean and land area. Engine Hall, Fun Research, Electrotechnical, Space Emerging Technology in the Service of Humanity, Biotechnological Revolution, VITM has 7 permanent exhibition galleries.
The Industrial and Technical Museum of Visvesvaraya, Bengaluru, is situated in Cubbon Park. VITM is 4 km from the Majestic bus stand and 35 km from the airport in Bengaluru. VITM can be reached from any part of Bengaluru city by the Bengaluru Metro (the nearest metro station is Cubbon Park), bus, or taxi.
Timings:- The Industrial and Technical Museum of Visvesvaraya, Bengaluru, is open daily from 9.30 AM until 8 PM. Spending at least half a day discovering all that VITM has to offer is recommended.
Located:- The museum is located in the sylvan surroundings of Cubbon Park on Kasturba Road, surrounded by stately buildings such as Vidhan Soudha, high court, etc. The City Railway & Bus Station is only 5 km away.
