Bengaluru has become the first Indian city to get its official logo. Namma City is now added to the league of global cities like New York City, Amsterdam, Melbourne, and Singapore with a tourism logo of its own. The motive of the logo was to reflect a brand’s soul and identity.
The brand-new red and black logo represents English and Kannada and reflects the true identity of the city. The two languages manifest that the silicon valley of India is a city that is global and local in its culture and tradition. A contest was held to create the logo.
Around 1,350 entries were submitted but the winner was a creative designing start-up named Nammur. The team stated that they had put almost a year to come up with the final design. The logo highlights the ‘Be’ and ‘U’ parts with red color. This is the main theme and thought behind the logo. The city permits you to be you. The logo was unveiled at the Namma Bengaluru Habba, an open street festival held in front of Vidhan Soudha.
The tourism department took this initiative to work on the city’s image as a tourist destination and not just an IT hub. According to studies, a logo boosts a city’s image and attracts more tourists globally. Singapore and New York city have witnessed a multi-fold rise in revenue through tourism after launching them as a brand. So, peeps, you can stop by Vidhaan Soudha and click selfies with the new logo!
