Here is what makes diabetes a bad comorbidity

Lack of oxygen

Diabetes suppresses immune functioning and studies prove that people with pre-existing sugar disorders have higher chances of suffering from low oxygen levels and related symptoms. This includes breathlessness, shortness of breath, chest pain and pulmonary problems. Hypoxia is a condition when the oxygen level crashes without other visible symptoms. It is commonly seen in diabetic patients.
Mucormycosis or Black Fungus
Black fungus is adding to the worries of Covid-10 patients. This mysterious fungus causes facial deformity, swelling, headaches and irritation in those who are recovering or have recovered. This is most often found in those who suffer from diabetes and/or are put on steroid therapy.
Doctors are of the view that diabetes, being an inflammatory condition, suppresses the functioning of the immune system because of which there is a higher risk of catching such infections. Also, fungi breed well in bodies with high blood sugar level.
