Bengaluru: On Friday, Karnataka witnessed the biggest single-day spike with 48,296 fresh Covid-19 cases while 217 fatalities took the toll to 15,523. With this, the state has crossed the 15 lakh mark.
The previous high in the state was when 39,047 cases were reported on April 28.
On Friday, Bengaluru Urban alone reported more than 50 per cent of the cases with 26,756 new cases.14,884 patients got discharged after recovery that day.
An aggregate of 15,23,142 positive cases has been confirmed in the state which is inclusive of 15,523 deaths and 11,24,909 discharges. Currently, there are 3,82,690 active cases.
Of the 217 deaths which were reported on Friday, Bengaluru Urban headed the list with 93 deaths, Hassan 19, Mysuru 13, Ballari 11, Dharwad 7, Tumakuru, Shivamogga, Kalaburagi, Davangere, Chamarajanagar, Bidar had six each, Kodagu, Mandya, Ramanagara, Uttara Kannada, had three each, Vijayapura, Kolar and Bagalkote had 5 each.
According to the health bulletin, 3,5pp cases were recorded in Mysuru, 1,801 in Tumakuru, 1,282 in Ballari, 1,256 in Kalaburagi, 1,205 in Dakshina Kannada and Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Raichur, Hassan, Dharwad, Shivamogga, Udupi, Kodagu and Chikkaballapura reported 500 each.
An aggregate of 2.55 crore samples has been tested till now out of which 1,89,793 were tested on Friday alone.
Approximately, 96.81 lakh people have received their first and second doses of vaccines till now.
