Bengaluru: According to the health department, Karnataka’s Covid-19 death tally crossed 13,000 on Tuesday. The day with 67 deaths and 8,778 fresh cases took the total number of infections to 10,83,647.
As per the health bulletin, the state has reported 13,008 deaths till now and an aggregate of 9,80,519 discharges including 6,079 on Tuesday.
The department added that there were 78,617 active cases in the state which includes 474 in ICUs.
Bengaluru Urban alone accounted for over 60 per cent of the day’s cases and modalities with 5,500 fresh infections and 55 deaths on Tuesday. The city has witnessed 4,93,869 infections and 4,910 deaths and there were 57,575 active cases.
After Bengaluru, Mysuru has come up to be another hotspot with 492 cases and 2 deaths.
The health department stated that 350 infections were reported in Tumakuru, 290 in Kalaburagi, 198 in Bidar, 168 in Ballari, 163 in Bengaluru Rural, 150 in Hassan, 142 in Dakshina Kannada, 132 in Dharwad, 114 in Mandya, and 105 in Vijayapura.
Cases were also reported in Shivamogga, Raichur, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Yadgir, Kolar, Davangere, Chitradurga, Bagalkote and Belagavi.
Apart from Bengaluru and Mysuru, deaths have also been reported from Kalaburagi with four deaths, two in Bidar, and one each in Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri and Vijayapura.
The majority of the people who lost their lives were more than 50 years of age except six who were in their 40s.
The department said that 1,21,899 tests were done on Tuesday including 1,11,016 using RT PCR and other methods taking the total tests done till now to 2.29 crore.
An aggregate of 60.77 lakh vaccinations has been done till now since the drive started on January 16.
