Bengaluru: On Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa declared a complete lockdown in the state which will be in effect from May 10 to May 24. The state has reported 49,058 new Covid-19 cases and 328 deaths. Out of these Bengaluru alone witnessed 23,706 cases and 139 related fatalities.
He added that all activities including industries, pubs, and bars to be completely closed.
Earlier, health minister K Sudhakar and experts had also suggested that the two-week curfew is not having the desired effect and so a complete lockdown was essential to prevent the further spread of the infection.
