As covid cases are not showing signs of slowing down yet again, March becomes the worst month for covid this year. The monthly cases registered within the town is more than January and February. The BBMP room knowledge affirms that Bengaluru had recorded 28,980 cases and it remains the worst month for the town since November 2020.
Cases
5,435 cases were recorded within the town till June 2020 and July saw an upward spike (52,406). This was followed by August-75,514 and September-1, 03,758. October-1, 00,958, November-32,101, December-18,551, January-10,311 and February-6-8,213 (lowest ever recorded cases since June) saw a decrease in the cases.
Similarly, the positivity rate that was 4.63 per cent in June rose to 23.84 per cent in July (highest therefore far). Then it dropped to 1.42 per cent in December and was 0.91 per cent in January. It is has increased by 2.2 per cent in March. The active cases that were 4,092 on March 1 have jumped to 19,613 to the month-end.
Deaths
Till June, the CFR was 1.75 per cent and ninety-five deaths, July was at 1.84 per cent and 962 deaths. August was at 1.26 per cent and 950 deaths, September was at 0.94 per cent and 971 deaths. October was at 0.89 per cent and 897 deaths. November was at 0.84 per cent and 271 deaths, December was at 0.99 per cent and 184 deaths. January was at 0.64 per cent and sixty-six deaths, Feb was at 1.28 per cent and 88 deaths whereas March was at 0.47 per cent and 136 deaths.
Containment Zones
A total of 31 areas count for the containment zones. Out of this, the majority are educational institutions or hostels along with residential complexes. Essential activities are allowed within these zones.
WFH, once more
The state government has issued new guidelines stating that work from home should be continued as long as possible. Thermal scanning, hand wash or sanitiser should be provided at all entry and exit points.
City reports two,906 cases
Bengaluru is now nearing 3k cases. It has reported 2,906 cases recently and 11 deaths, while the daily cases within the state were 4,234 and 18 deaths.
Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda is presently stable with minimal respiratory symptoms. His RT-PCR reports were negative even though on Wednesday morning, he announced that he was positive.
In the meantime, Bengaluru club declared that it will cancel all the activities within the premises until any notice. The decision was taken following authorities tips on crowd regulation.
No offline categories until ninth grade
The Education Department has decided to suspend offline classes up to grade 9 in Bengaluru alone (while offline can continue in remainder of the state). The offline classes for tenth standard, I and II PU can continue like before. The decision was taken due to a rapid spike in the cases.
