Bengaluru: BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has affirmed that the IPL has been suspended for this season. The decision has been taken after many players from various teams have tested positive for Covid-19.
Before this decision, two matches were rescheduled when players or team staff were tested positive for Covid-19.
As the bowling coach, L Balaji was tested Covid-positive, BCCI had rescheduled the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. All CSK players have tested negative during their RT PCR tests. Just after that, Wriddhiman Saha, a player of SunRisers Hyderabad was tested positive due to which the team’s match against Mumbai Indians was rescheduled. It was originally scheduled to be on the evening of May 4.
Some of the players of Kolkata Knight Riders such as Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were also tested Covid-positive due to which Monday’s Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore was postponed.
