ISKCON Temple, situated in the Rajajinagar district, is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple was inaugurated in 1997 by Shankar Dayal Sharma, under the guidance of Madhu Pandit Dasa. ISKCON temple is a cultural complex apart from a religious shrine that accommodates devoted deities of Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra, Sri Sri Krishna Balarama, Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga, Sri Srinivasa Govinda, and Sri Prahlada Narasimha.
Sri Madhu Pandit Das first erected this magnificent architecture and was inaugurated in 1997 by the then President of India, Shankar Dayal Sharma.
There are several halls of prayer dedicated to Sri Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra, Sri Sri Krishna Balarama, Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga, Sri Srinivasa Govinda, and Sri Prahlada Narasimha.
ISKCON Bangalore is also a spiritual hubbub with many dimensions, apart from being a temple to the Lord. It has its own lecture hall, which holds regular lectures on the Srimad Bhagavatam delivered by devotees.
The temple provides its tourists with drinking water from tankers brought all the way from the ground area, located on top of a hill that is far from any source of drinking groundwater.
It was around 1987 when the temple on Hare Temple Lane, which was then an empty “kharab land”, was relocated to the grounds (wasteland).
Sri Madhu Pandit Das, a trained engineer who was then the President of ISKCON Bangalore, conceptualized a magnificent temple of splendid architecture, which he then designed along with Sri Jagat Chandra Dasa, an architect himself, to make this land more suitable for housing the splendid temple.
To get to ISKCON Temple, Bangalore, one might take a direct bus from Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. A number of buses-80, 80A, 80B, 80E, 80F, 80G, 252F-cross this route.
Then one has to get off at the bus stop at the Mahalakshmi Layout Entrance, which is two kilometers from the temple, and make the short walk to the destination.
The best time to visit Bangalore’s ISKCON Temple is during the winter months, from November to February. The temperature stays relatively low during this period.
