Bengaluru: For the first time in 58 days, Karnataka’s daily Covid tally was below the 10,000 mark on Tuesday as it logged 9,808 fresh cases. Out of this, Bengaluru accounted for 2,028 new infections.
On Tuesday, the state’s fatalities were the lowest in 44 days with 179. This was a sharp drop from Monday’s 199.
Also, the city’s toll was the lowest in 52 days after 43 deaths on April 17. Out of the 44 deaths, 26 occurred in May. P Rajendra Cholan, special commissioner, BBMP, said, “We are reporting the deaths that have been communicated to us from hospitals and crematoria from the past 24 hours. The number of deaths has come down as per the data.”
