Bengaluru: On Thursday, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa declared the extension of lockdown from June 7 to June 14 to control the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
Yediyurappa told, “We had earlier announced stringent restrictions from May 24 to June 7 to contain the spread of coronavirus. Though the infections have reduced, the spread of the disease is still on.”
“It has been decided to extend the restrictions by a week following the recommendations of experts till June 14 morning”, he said.
The restrictions are in effect since April 27, but from May 10 the CM had announced a shutdown till the morning of May 24.
However, due to the spike in cases, it was further extended till June 7.
