Bengaluru: Keeping in view the rising demand for oxygenated beds in the State, the government has now decided to provide hospitalisation only for those Covid patients whose oxygen levels go below 93 per cent. The patients who are mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic can either go for home isolation or get the treatment done at covid care centres (CCC).
This protocol will be followed by all the doctors working at war rooms, hospitals or in triage centres across the State. The guidelines were issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.
The circular states, “Hospital beds are a valuable resource and hence, shall be used judiciously for those patients who are clinically in need of these beds.”
The doctors may also request the recovering patients who are clinically stable, to seek further treatment at a step-down facility run by the same private hospitals or in covid care centres. This would make space for those Covid patients who are critically ill. According to the circular, the government-referred patients will have to cover the cost at the step-down facility.
