Bengaluru: On Monday, Karnataka witnessed 39,305 fresh Covid-19 cases which has taken the caseload to 19,73,683. It also reported 596 deaths which took the toll to 19,372.
The state conducted 1.24 lakh tests on Monday which was less than the 2 lakh tests done daily when the second wave hit.
According to the health department, there were 5,71,006 active cases and 32,188 people were discharged after recovery. With this, the total number of discharges is 13,83,285.
Bengaluru, which is the epicentre of the pandemic, saw a decline in the number of cases as it reported 16,757 infections. There was a decline of 4,000 cases compared to Sunday.
The death toll was 374 which remains alarming.
Till now, the city has reported 9,67,640 infections and 8,431 deaths.
Ballari is the second major Covid hotspot after Bengaluru. It witnessed 973 new cases which was a decline by over 1,200 compared to Sunday. There were 26 related fatalities on Monday.
As per the health bulletin, 2,168 infections were reported in Tumakuru, 1,800 in Hassan, 1,537 in Mysuru, 1,175 in Dakshina Kannada, 1,133 in Mandya and 1,006 in Dharwad.
Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bengaluru rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Kalaburagi, Kodagu, Kolar, Raichur, Shivamogga, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura and Yadgir were among those which reported over 500 cases.
According to the health department, 22 deaths were reported in Hassan, 15 each in Bagalkote and Tumakuru, 12 each in Mandya and Haveri, 11 each in Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada and nine in Kodagu.
