According to the state’s Covid-19 bulletin on Tuesday, twenty Covid patients in Karnataka have been found to be infected with the B.1.627 double mutant variant.
Nimhans authorities did the genomic sequencing. They said that the samples were collected from clusters in Bengaluru and Kalaburagi. There was also travel history to Maharashtra in some. The state witnessed 31,830 fresh Covid-19 cases which is the highest single-day spike ever. Out of this, Bengaluru reported 17,550. The state also reported 180 Covid-related deaths out of which 97 were reported in Bengaluru.
